Virgo is mutable earth energy ruled by Mercury, “I analyze”. Natural ruler of the sixth house where we find occupation, health, small animals, military service, nurses, healers, and nutrition. The Solar Plexus chakra which vitalizes the nervous system, digestive process, metabolism, and emotions. Conditions of discomfort with digestion can represent the emotions of anxiety, fear, rejection, or holding on to past anger. Healing herbs may include ginger, rosemary, fennel, and wild yam. The crystals ruled by Virgo are lapis lazuli, carnelian, opal, and sapphire.
Virgo is the servant, the critic, and a perfectionist. The lesson for Virgo to learn is there is no such thing as perfection. With trine aspects to Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto Lady Luck offers ease in accomplishing tasks that have been in a holding pattern. Especially with a trine to Uranus, unexpected events can bring forth nuggets of gold and present the opportunity to make fast decisions using instinct and wisdom. These are inspirational connections that move us in new and exciting ways.
The alchemist knows how to balance time and movement to create synergy. Here the Soul can finally realize a forgotten dream and ignite passion that has been dormant. Expression and cooperation unify fragmented parts of consciousness. Ultimately, we learn that true success is only that which benefits the whole. The Aries – Libra Nodal axis breaks free from convention and explores new horizons. We are here to fulfil our potential as well as assist others to do the same. Time will seem to move slowly and paying attention to small details is the way to utilize the retrograde energies.
In Greek mythology, Virgo, or “the virgin” originally was named, Astraea and known as the goddess of Innocence because she never married and always remained pure, as symbolized by the fair maiden. Astraea was the daughter of Zeus and lived during the Golden Age of man. As humanity began to descend into evil and corruption, she fled from Earth for good. Her departure marked the end of Paradise on Earth. She is associated with Persephone; the daughter of Demeter and the story goes that Pluto kidnapped Persephone to take her as his wife in the Underworld. Demeter was so infuriated that she made the Earth barren and dark. Zeus struck a deal between Pluto and Demeter to allow Persephone to visit her mother for half the year on the Earth which created the fertile Spring and Summer seasons. When Persephone is in the Underworld, the Earth experiences Fall and Winter and is dark and still.
Cycles in our lives repeat that reality of endings and beginnings, the Light and the Dark, the active and the still. During this lunation, take time to reflect on past experiences and the lessons learned. Strive to find and maintain your authentic Self and be relentless. This is not a dress rehearsal and in the blink of an eye you are in the next stage of your journey, no time to waste. Breathe deep Soul.
